SpiderDAD here and I'm pleased to report that it's Sunday evening and everyone is in one piece. That includes SpiderMOM who ran through excessive heat and humidity in Miami but managed to finish her race without dying! We watched her progress online, which is not as cool as screaming profanities and ringing cowbells at the race, but nonetheless, we're still proud of our champ!
It's been a whirl-wind weekend so I'll use lots of visual aids and try to spare you from my incoherent writings. Let's start with the night before Mom left. As luck would have it, I had an A/V club convention of sorts which went on until 3AM.

So I began my own personal marathon on 2 hours sleep; tired and scared. Kids, as we all know, can see the fear in your eyes and they exploit it. So there was a lot of caving in to my children's demands right from the start. Here's the "D.E.A.R. (drop everything and read) time" I supervised:

And here's Lulu raiding Mom's closet during her D.E.A.R. time. This moment reminded me of the time Bobby tried to squeeze into these very same boots and failed miserably at the age of 3 and a half.. (Bobby wears a 13 now)

After sleeping in, Saturday began much more gracefully. We had the usual kids' commitments including Fencing and Violin (talk about snobby pastimes, huh?!) and we grabbed a slice at our favorite pizza joint of all time.

Later that afternoon, we had a birthday surprise party for Nona at her favorite restaurant. Here's Will giving her the coveted "life-size Yoda origami" - hopefully it wasn't a duplicate gift!

The next morning we were treated to a breakfast fit for a King and a hike!

All in all, it's been an epic weekend. We're sending a big Spiderbyte shout out to Nona on her birthday and a hearty and somewhat desperate welcome home to SpiderMom! I don't know how you do this day in and day out - I guess that's why you can do things like run marathons??
